Penny Arcade Expo
Ok, this is my first blog post ever so i wanted to make it about PAX. Any way i arriver thursday afternoon in seattle from san diego. The flight was alright i had the aisle which was aweesome if only for the fact that when that drink cart mosies on by you where the first to get served which would have mattered any way if i wasn't at the very back of the plane. there was also this baby. I know what your thinking right "ohhhh that baby was probably screaming the whole way there. "
Well that could not have been further from the truth i don't know what drugs that mom pumped into that child but i'm glad because that little germ bomb was nearly cattatonic the flight. Moving on we ... i almost forgot the we, i was travelling with my ywo best friends tyler and Fletcher anf tylers Fiance Aron or erin i'm exactly sure how she spelles her name you ( the reader) will learn more about them later we drop our stuff off at the Luxurious Red Lion suite and almost immeadeatly whent down to the tapp house for food and beverages of a delinquent nature. with our some friends of ours from forums on Penny arcade i wont name names...okay i will Blarney, pluto, visible, and infidel just to name a few, great folk all of them Well after we get nice and deliquent we head back to their hotel and play board games till we start to sober up which i think was at like ..2. now tyler and aron wake up super early like 6 because their morning people and that sickens me me and fletcher wake up at noon and we probably would have slept in later because for what ever reason the curtians where still closed and no natural light was comming in so as far as we where concerned it ws still O' dark 30. but Tyler being the concerned friend he is called to make sure that we didn't die of alch...deliquency poisioning we then sprang too and just in time for the beyond candy land pannel which was ...educational i guess they where pretty funny i'll give them that.
the rest of that particular day was filled with rock band, and playin BSG 75 the board game. durring the night we decide it is s good idea to get toatally smashed so we go grocery shopping for all kinds of funny liquers in goofy bottles and have another nerd fest playing smashbrothers brawl for the wii and let me stop here for a second i was under the impresion that solid snake would be among the faster more agile characters but NO! i spent the better half of 3 hours getting my ass handed to me by jiggly puff....god damn jiggly puff....we also played some different board games...namely mafia bsg applaes to apples. we stumble back into our hotell room at like 3... i think which all in allwas a really unwise idea because we had to get up early to get the wrist bands to go to the concert. let me give you a little back story about this every year PAX host free concerts to any one who wants to go well this particulay concert was the holy grail of nerd concerts FREEZ POP, paul and Stormy, and jonathan coulton.
i had to see this well any way they give out the wrist bands in the line to to exposition hall so we had to be there at 8. not realy it was really just the paranoia of missing the concert that forced us up that early. on this day we cruised arround the exposition hall and checked out all the game we wanted to play guild wars 2, bioshock2 dantes inferno, secret socitey, and so on looking arroung in amazment and wonder trying to to gawk at the scantly clad women handing out swag. i must have ended up with 17 of thoes bags. the rest of the day wa spretty uneventful but then we rolled on in to the night me and fletcher went out for pizza but came back in time for the last part of the omegathon. and we endured the beattles hit twist and shout twice rock band style.
when that was over we gleefully waited. STANDING for freez pop you might have saw me there i was wearing a blue hexagonal shirt a green vest and purple pants and yes they where indeed fancy pants. we slowly inched towards the stage in anticipaton till they came on stage. i'm not going to over sell them bu they where good musically they just werent my cup of tea. when their set was over there wasa long wait for the second act to begin, apparently it was these two guys that neither me nor fletch had heard of. we get a little closer to the stage and who walks out but the Geek pope himself Mr. Wil Wheaton. who gave this proclamation that is somwhere on you tube giving jonathan Coulton the presidential D20 0f geekdom. and then he calmly intoduced Paul & Storm. now i'm not going to lie i didn't expect a whole lot out of these guys but they where awesome if only for the explanation of the Dejected Yarr...i litterally cried. but only one tear. we called them back for an enchore. then there was the wait for the show that every one had been waiting for JoCo. and his show blew my mind hole. it was like being born again. and if you don't know what i'm talking about go to wil wheaton's blog and look at the video he has for just a small tast of awesome that whole night was.
ok if you read this whole thing you are awesome. but i got one more part to my pax story and that was PAX Sunday we went to the Wil Wheaton Panel the next morning and after that being in that room in that croud sharing that moment with that croud i was the best i had ever felt in my life.
