Blending into the sea of thousands around me.

Until we met.

The tenderness and love

that carried in your voice

and wrapped me

like your arms,

in a fuzzy embrace.

Making me feel included

in a truly extraordinary life.

The warmth in your eyes

never betrayed by the kindness

in your words.

You encouraged me to love

to open my heart;

welcome those around me

into my life,

my family.

You changed me in ways

I’m still discovering

and so while you are gone

my dearest Grandad,

you will never be forgotten.
