Even in the dark we can shine.

Even in the dark we can shine

From the state of the rising sun, across the country to the state of the setting sun. I see my friends find solace in the warmth, and glow of their friendship, and possible passion. Illuminating the darkness and chaos, of my lonely, broken life. Their love warms my soul, and mends the shattered pieces of my heart.

If love can do this from a far, then perhaps, I too can love again someday. Like the sands in an…

LAN Party

The worst type of LAN party is the type you spend 90% of the time tuning your systems to new environment. It is a pain when you have to customize your security protocols, rewrite firewall rules for new network and deal with countering security measures set up by party host.

When you are the host, it is defining MAC based signature for each and everyone who wants to play or observe.

But it is worth it.

One day in 2012

And here I am.  Just a random weekend, one where I found myself wearing my CheeseyBeard's t-shirt one day, my Guild t-shirt the next, and immersion in Season 5.

Wow, is what I say.  Chock full of goodness!  This weekend was apparently fated to be Guild filled. It almost made going to a Con look like fun!  And then I remember how much I don't like crowds... alas.  However, it would be the perfect arena for my costuming indulgences.  A closet half full of creations, worn for…

Mr. Bungle - The Girls of Porn

Mr. Bungle was an experimental rock/avant-garde metal group from Northern California. The band was formed in 1985 while the members were still in high school and was named after a children's educational film. Mr. Bungle released four demo tapes in the mid to late 1980s before being signed to Warner Bros. Records and releasing three full-length studio albums between 1991 and 1999. The band toured in 2000 to support their last album but in 2004 they disbanded. Although Mr. Bungle went through…

Season 5, Episode 12 Transcription

CODEX: Thinking back on what little I know of history, there isn't a single event involving a dirigible blimp-mobile, that ever went right.  I mean, didn't those things crash and burn?  That's why we invented airplanes - because those balloon things, were not reliable!  And, in general, our whole plan to save the game was just like, pppppbbbbbbt.  I mean, we would make the worst Scooby Doo team, ever.  Our van would crash; bad guys would get away with haunting whatever!  And, and!  We'd lose…

Season 5, Episode 11 Transcription

CODEX: I had a boyfriend once, who stole a traffic cone, from a parking garage, while we were on a date together.  It was the most illegal thing I've ever been a party too, and I panicked, every time I heard a siren, for like, two years straight.  I know the guild's going to have to break some rules to convince Floyd to save the game, but today?  I'm willing to go behind the grey-bar hotel for the cause!  That's prison-speak for, well, you know, prison, heh.  For once, I'm risk taking!  In,…

Season 5, Episode 10 Transcription

CODEX: I called a guild summit - this is so official!  I learned a lot about summits in history classes I've taken.  I know that out of one of them, they produced the UN. Oh, and then there's that one... G... something, that European hippies don't like.  I'm not stupid, I'm just ignorant about things I don't RSS.  And I'm not putting my summit on the scale of world peace, or, eh... European hippies... but, this is our game we're talking about!  We've got to get off the convention…

Episode idea: Avatar in real life

For a future episode...

Codex has a major mental break down (again), but this time a serious one where the guildees either don't care or are oblivious. Codex hits rock bottom. In a desperate attempt to bring meaning to her *real* life, her avatar's persona takes over. She is now complely role playing her avatar in real life. High confidence, healing others in need... at first is it wonderful and great, but it quickly gets out of hand. Her avatar starts trying to get "experience…

Season 5, Episode 8 Transcription

[This transcription was mostly done by Dani, so make sure to give her thanks and stuff!]

CODEX:  Tink's name is April Loo?  That was super weird to hear.  So what inspired me to be a rascally meddler and invite Tink's family, who I just discovered the existence of, to a buffet-style intervention?  This weekend has been crisis after crisis for me!  The guild scattered, The Game threatened...  My first impulse was to just abandon everything and run away.  But I realized after…

Season 5, Episode 7 Transcription

CODEX: Big decisions, big life decisions... the last few years - well, you've heard me whine, you know they haven't been great.  Finding the Game, and the guild, was a life saver for me - it was a safe place where I didn't feel like collapsing, all the time.  But, lately, I've just - I've been drifting, and, uh... If I quit the game, will the guildies still be my friends anymore?  Was Floyd right, were they even real to begin with?  What am I doing - who am I!?  That's what I have to find…
