Love Dr. Who! When I'm done with my Dexter kick I'll get caught up on Dr. Who.

For those who don't know, Raven Kai is a talented artist and drew the picture of the Tenth Doctor shown above! Jeff C. has done some great Who related (and other scifi related) art too!

Eh up! Waiting for easter and the next special now. And hopefully a week of Torchwood before that.

*Blushes* Awe shucks. Thanks. Anyone see the Christmas special yet?

Saw the Xmas special on tv. Good, but the specials never seem to be the best of the episodes, I guess that they have to keep it lighter and easy to follow to allow for peoples post Xmas dinner stupor!

If you call seeing a guy's mind ravaged by having his wife killed and child kidnapped light, so be it phil :)

Well, lighter than episodes like Midnight anyway!

Except for the last few moments (when he mentioned the 'forget me' bit), I was unmoved. The story was too predictable. David did a fine job but until the final scene, I don't think he had a lot to work with. I was disappointed it was another Cybermen episode but then again, RTD is the reason we have been overwhelmed with Cybermen and Daleks over and over again. Maybe the fact that DT is leaving affected my feelings towards the show but I honestly think that SM taking over is a very very good thing. Think of some of the best episodes and you'll see Steven Moffat as writer. For example:

The Empty Child
The Doctor Dances
The Girl in the Fireplace
Blink
Silence in the Library
Forest of the Dead

No cybermen, no daleks. All original, intense and gripping stories with dynamic character development. SM is a fangurl (he was so excited at comic con when he talked about The Doctor that they made fun of him during the torchwood panel afterwords. I was actually offended by the attitudes of some of the TW people). SM is caring and passionate about The Doctor - the history and the future of it. RTD on the other hand is jaded, impersonal and callused. He doesn't appear to care about the material. However passionate he may have been in the beginning, he seems to be completely uncaring now.

I really wish DT would change his mind and stay another season so SM can do the River Song storyline before he goes. it was sooo promising!!!

Anyway, The Next Doctor was okay but nowhere near the level of excellence I've come to expect from a Christmas special.

Here's a blog I wrote critiquing DT's run as the Doctor:

I agree with you on Rose. I really got sick of her and I'm not sure what The Doctor saw in her. I always just imagined it was because he was just coming out of the Time War (which we have no real insight into) and was just aching in a way that made him susceptible to her whining and pining. I ached for his loss of her but that was for him, not her. Martha was wonderful but Donna was AMAZING! I know some people really hate her but I think she brought something in the role of companion and to the doctor that was missing. I think the lack of romantic slant on the relationship was beneficial as well. Seriously, he's had 900 years to meet women of every kind imaginable so I think for him to be interested in a woman more then casually, she would have to be a really dynamic person. (Which makes River even more interesting to me)

As for Eleven, I hope he is someone older and odder. I'd kind of like to see someone like Bill Nighy rather then a 'Hollywood' hottie. :D
