It's out now! See the blog post from the main page: The Guild Season 4 on DVD and iTunes.
Links: Amazon iTunes - US and Canada only at this time.
So, who's got it already? What do you think of the bonus features? The commentary? Anyone find easter eggs yet? Discuss...

Permalink Reply by Brian K on December 21, 2010 at 4:30pm Thanks for posting... eventually I believe that Team Cawkes feature will be available elsewhere, but probably not for a while. Doing exclusives is a big request by distributors, so we went into this season with plans to have some at the ready as they were requested. It's helpful for leverage to get on to as many platforms as possible. I assure you that this is the goal, not to try to force fans to make multiple purchases.
Just to confirm - the retail and Amazon release are identical in content, just the 2 disc/DVD-R vs. 1 disc/DVD difference.
Thanks for the tip on New Video's info... I'll get in touch with them to update their info. They also say "Region 1" on that page, when I know the DVD for retail release is Region Free/Region 0.

Permalink Reply by J Bennett on January 28, 2011 at 12:21am Getting to Season 4 was a long quest. Couldn't watch the episodes online, my Amazon account got glitched, my DVD player went froggy... It was a freakin' nightmare. (Not the Guild's fault; there were just technological inadequacies at my end of the Internet.)
Now that things are working, the Season 4 DVD is great. Lots of extras. It has the table read, gag reel, and script. It has the "Game On" music video and the making thereof. It has recaps of the first three seasons, including the Autotune recap of Season 3. It has the Cheesybeards commercial, featurettes on Cheesybeards and Avinashi, and a touching easter-egged PSA featuring Wil Wheaton.
The cast and technical commentaries are fascinating. As in the first three seasons, you learn a lot about the creative and production challenges "The Guild" faces and how the cast and crew overcome them. You also get extra laughs, and that's a good thing in these darkened times.
I recommend the following viewing regime for new owners of the DVD:
1. Watch all the episodes.
2. Watch all the episodes with the cast commentary.
3. Watch all the episodes with the technical commentary.
4. If your DVD player allows it, watch all the episodes in black and white, because Vork/Jeff Lewis looks awesome in black and white.
5. Watch all the extras.
6. Sadly sigh and say, "I can't wait for Season 5."
7. Repeat.

Permalink Reply by Brian K on February 7, 2011 at 3:28am Cool... glad you found it. I won't go into too much detail, so as to not spoil anything for those who haven't seen it, but I'll say the following:
1 - I wrote it, pitched it to Kim & Felicia who said "great, pitch it to Wil and see if he'll do it." I did and he thought it was funny. He was so awesome, we shot it quickly and had to do it when a certain person wasn't around on set so we could keep it a surprise. Wil improved upon what I had come up with, did multiple takes with some good alternates, asked for my direction, etc. It was a really satisfying experience.
2 - The "subject" as you put it, didn't know about it until the wrap party, where it was screened for everyone (along with episode 1, the s3 recap, and the early version of the gag reel).
3 - other easter eggs? hmmm... not saying anything...
