So, who's got it already?  What do you think of the bonus features? The commentary? Anyone find easter eggs yet? Discuss...

I've ordered the DVD. Looking forward to it, and tomorrow's Vorkomic.

But is there really a making of Team Cawkes feature that is only available by buying the full season on iTunes? Seriously? I intend to also get the retail DVD when it comes out - I prefer DVD to DVD-R, and one disk is more convenient than two - so that's two purchases I'm happy to make. But I don't normally buy whole seasons of things on iTunes. I hope this feature will be made available in some other way eventually.

BTW New Video has some promotional material out regarding the retail release, at http://www.newvideo.com/flatiron-film-company/the-guild-season-4/ , and since I'm assuming today's CreateSpace DVD-R release has the same content, the New Video description is missing a lot of the extra feature content. If their description will be disseminated to all retail outlets, it's probably well worth correcting!

Thanks for posting... eventually I believe that Team Cawkes feature will be available elsewhere, but probably not for a while.  Doing exclusives is a big request by distributors, so we went into this season with plans to have some at the ready as they were requested.  It's helpful for leverage to get on to as many platforms as possible.  I assure you that this is the goal, not to try to force fans to make multiple purchases.

Just to confirm - the retail and Amazon release are identical in content, just the 2 disc/DVD-R vs. 1 disc/DVD difference.

Thanks for the tip on New Video's info... I'll get in touch with them to update their info.  They also say "Region 1" on that page, when I know the DVD for retail release is Region Free/Region 0.

Getting to Season 4 was a long quest. Couldn't watch the episodes online, my Amazon account got glitched, my DVD player went froggy... It was a freakin' nightmare. (Not the Guild's fault; there were just technological inadequacies at my end of the Internet.)

Now that things are working, the Season 4 DVD is great. Lots of extras. It has the table read, gag reel, and script. It has the "Game On" music video  and the making thereof. It has recaps of the first three seasons, including the Autotune recap of Season 3. It has the Cheesybeards commercial, featurettes on Cheesybeards and Avinashi, and a touching easter-egged PSA featuring Wil Wheaton.

The cast and technical commentaries are fascinating. As in the first three seasons, you learn a lot about the creative and production challenges "The Guild" faces and how the cast and crew overcome them. You also get extra laughs, and that's a good thing in these darkened times.

I recommend the following viewing regime for new owners of the DVD:

1. Watch all the episodes.

2. Watch all the episodes with the cast commentary.

3. Watch all the episodes with the technical commentary.

4. If your DVD player allows it, watch all the episodes in black and white, because Vork/Jeff Lewis looks awesome in black and white.

5. Watch all the extras.

6. Sadly sigh and say, "I can't wait for Season 5."

7. Repeat.

Brian, I did find one easter egg. Well done! Haven't noticed if anyone else has reporting finding the Wil Wheaton-narrated "Public Service Announcement."

Who actually wrote the script, you or Wil? Does the subject of the PSA know about it? I don't think I've heard him mention it.

Are there are other easter eggs?

Cool... glad you found it.  I won't go into too much detail, so as to not spoil anything for those who haven't seen it, but I'll say the following:

1 - I wrote it, pitched it to Kim & Felicia who said "great, pitch it to Wil and see if he'll do it." I did and he thought it was funny.  He was so awesome, we shot it quickly and had to do it when a certain person wasn't around on set so we could keep it a surprise.  Wil improved upon what I had come up with, did multiple takes with some good alternates, asked for my direction, etc.  It was a really satisfying experience.

2 - The "subject" as you put it, didn't know about it until the wrap party, where it was screened for everyone (along with episode 1, the s3 recap, and the early version of the gag reel).

3 - other easter eggs?  hmmm... not saying anything...

Will be getting this but its so much cheaper to just watch them online lol.
