Watch The Guild

I have a Mac Book Pro. Bought it only a few months ago. So im still a pretty new Mac user. But so far I like it. I have been using Linux for the past two years, so the Unix like environment in OS X made me feel right at home. :)

Anyway... Any of you Guys/Gals use Macs or play games on it?

I play alot of World of Warcraft on it. The added video capture feature (Mac only) is nice. I tried it out in my WoW Dance tribute video. Uploaded here if anyone's interested. ;) I think it turned out rather well. Although the upload killed the FPS. So its a little jumpy... Ack... Now im jumping off topic.

I'm a mac.. :)

I have a few Windows VM's installed but I mainly use MAC for everything.. kinda hard to find games for it tho.. WOW and Spore are the only games I have on it.

Nice. I just recently also got a macbook pro and the only thing i play on it is wow. The added mac features for capturing game play is really cool. The only thing i hate about the mac and wow is that the mouse is terribly slow response wise when using an external mouse. This is my first mac and I come from a all Microsoft background. So it is quite a change. One I don't think I will ever be able to get used to.

Slow mouse response time? Im just using an old Logitech notebook mouse. Its pretty small. :P
I have no problems with it. Might just be the mouse you were using.

There are a few other good games out there that run on Mac's too. I have Unreal Tournament 2004 installed. I used to play Need For Speed Carbon, but once I beat it. I had no need to play it again. No real replay value there. :P Starting to get into EvE Online a little bit. I just wish the upgraded graphics were not limited to windows. -_-

Anyway, I could start a whole new topic with a list of games, but I wont. Cause im too lazy. lol

I'm playing on a 1 year old 2o inch iMac. I made the switch because I wanted to try something different and I love it. I do have it boot camped with Windows XP for those times or games that require it and I have no Mac alternative. Tip for new mac gamers.....do NOT try to run a virtual machine, just use boot camp to take advantage of your 3D acceleration. 80 bucks wasted on VMWare fusion I tell ya.

I love that I can record movied and video with it.....its good stuff.

Wow plays great for me.. all the blizzard games do. I have also played Halo 2 under a vista boot camp (halo 2 requires vista... sigh).

I'd consider a console if I wanted to expand my gaming.

I love using a mac where I can have the gui goodness of mac, the mad skillz of a unix box, and the (sigh) ability to run word and excel.

I use a macbook for playing wow, considering all my other gaming is done on my console, i don't have to worry about the utter lack of gaming on the mac, lol, thats my only gripe with macs.

Other than that i love not worrying about viruses, spam, or trojans, or those blasted key loggers.

I'm a big Macbook Pro geek. I use it for everything, even Windows and Linux. Hit me up with any questions.

Hell yeah there's mac users out there. I game on my 24" iMac, and it runs great. Only real downside is the lack of selection (unless you go with Boot Camp) and the lack of SFX on Vent (I'd give anything to normalize the volumes of different users).

2.16ghz MB w/ 1GB and a logitech mouse...

Used to play tons of WoW on my mac but studies have curtailed gaming time so haven't been able to log onto my druid in a long time. Was great while it lasted. I don't know other pc's that are able to run WoW and photoshop at once reliably. But I did see graphics on a friends pc that I never saw on the mac side, so there were tradeoffs.

I must speak up about this:

WoW + Photoshop at the same time (concurrently) reliably (and several other progs, too, like the rest of the entire CS suite all at once)?

Vista Business x64 if you've got the compy for it. Not only that, but you also get to run engineering, productivity, financial and DBMS software that is not only standard but hella-good, too. (You know, doing useful stuff that makes the world go 'round in a familiar UI.) Domain features are pretty awesome, too, even for home users. (Server 2008 comes in a "headless" mode... finally!) Windows Vista Ultimate also integrates with XBox 360 and online entertainment streams.

If you don't have the compy for it, though, Vista will totally suck. If you do have the compy for it, your compy is probably not taking advantage of its full potential if you're not on Vista. Don't bother with x64 if you're not going over 3GB. Don't bother going over 3GB if you don't plan on launching every app on your compy at the same time. (8GB is a good size for that.) If you plan to work on software (like ENVI) for grinding large data sets in a short time, you want x64 programs and of course x64 OS. If you're not intending to wire your house with entertainment features from your computer, skip Ultimate and just get Business. (If you don't know what you're doing enough to stop UAC without turning it off completely, you're probably messing with things best left to the experts.)

Now, back to the "We have to run Windows on our Macs to get the best selection of games" thread. :D

That may be true....but when it comes to just about anything else I much prefer my Mac...people talk about the lack of programs well there isn't one and the community is very active and helpful, not all are the elitist OMG I LOVE STEVE fanboys out there.
